Batman & Robin is a well known sequel of Batman trilogy which was released in 1997. In this sequel, George Clooney played the role of Batman. Chris O' Donnell returned as Robin. Batman & Robin introduced the character of Batgirl which was played by Alicia Silverstone. The characters were created by Bob Kane and Bill Finger and the screenplay was done by Akiva Goldsman. Music was scored by Elloit Goldenthal. The director Joel Schumacher has tried his best to keep the spirit of saving Gotham City even in the sequel Batman & Robin.
The movie begins with the mission of saving Gotham City from the enemies. But, this time Batman is not alone. Robin is with him. The new villain, “Mr. Freeze” is introduced in the scene when Batman got a call from the Commissioner Gordon. Batman & Robin focused on the theme of chasing Freeze. Batman's mission was to retrieve the diamond stolen by Freeze. The task was not easy and Batman had to come across a lot of hurdles. The chase of Mr. Freeze by the superhero makes the plot more interesting. Batman & Robin is indeed a wonderful movie with lots of action and adventure.
Batman & Robin was released on 20th June, 1997. It offers a compact and interesting presentation of the character, Batman or Bruce Wayen for 125 minutes. The worldwide distribution rights of the movie was taken over by the Warner Brothers. Schumacher went for the English version of the movie keeping in mind the international market and huge fan following of Batman. Though it was the same old story of good chasing the evil but Batman & Robin offers a slick presentation of this age old theme.

The character of the villain, Mr. Freeze draws his source from Batman: The Animated Series. The name of the scientist is a pun signifying the extreme cold temperature. The director and the writer went for numerous innovations to render a new dimension both to the character of Batman and the typical theme of saving Gotham City from the evil. Though Batman & Robin is considered to be a less successful movie compared to its prequels as far as the box office record goes, Schumacher has definitely succeeded in creating a few wonderful characters.
