The time between 1940 and 1960 was an era when lot of excellent movies had been made in Hollywood. These movies are made without any help of advanced technologies. They are considered as classics and are very popular among people all over the world even today. Several great romantic films had also been made in Hollywood during this time and Casablanca is one of them. Directed by Michael Curtiz, Casablanca is, in fact, an Oscar winning romantic movie which still entertains people the way it did at that time. You will enjoy watching Casablanca even if you are a teenager or a young man or woman.
Made in the year 1942, Casblanca-the movie was set in Moroccan city of Casablanca. The film has got a background of wars and speaks about the days when Europe was controlled by the Germans. The movie is all about Rick Baine’s (played by Humphrey Bogart) conflict between two words, love and virtue. How Rick chooses her love for Ilsa Lund (played by Ingrid Bergman) and helped her and her husband to escape from Casablanca is what the story of Casablanca is all about.
In the movie, Rick Baine is an American expatriate who owns a nightclub named “Rick's Cafe Americicain”. One day a criminal named Ugarte (played by Peter Lorre) comes to Rick's nightclubs with 'letters of transit' which he got after killing two German couriers. The letters were actually permitted for traveling freely around Europe including Portugal and Lisbon and from there to United States of America.

Ugarte had a plan to sell the letters to the highest bidder to earn some money but before it could happen, police arrives and arrests him. Ugarte leaves the letters with Rick.
At this time Rick sees his ex-lover Ilsa Lund who walks in the nightclub along with her husband Victor Laszlo (played by Paul Henreid), a Czech resistance leader. Seeing Ilsa with her husband, Rick feels frustrated. Lazslo wants to purchase the letters because he wants to get back to America to continue his fight against the Nazis. But Rick refuses to sell the letters to Lazslo and asks him to question his wife about the reason.

| Later Ilsa faces Rick in the nightclub and threatens him with a gun. But as she still loved Rick, she could not shoot him. Later, Ilsa clarified why she left Rick with her husband and knowing her part of the story, Rick finally decides to give the letters to Ilsa and Lazslo. At the end of Casablanca, he sacrifices his love once again and helps her to escape to United States.
