How Dorothy finally reaches the Emarald City and meets the Wizard of Oz is what the movie is all about. The special effects used in The Wizard of Oz are outstanding if you consider the era in which it was made. Judy Garland (Dorothy Gale), Ray Bolger (Scarecrow), Jack Haley (Tin Man), Bert Lahr (Cowardly Lion) and of course Frank Morgan who played the Wizard of Oz came up with outstanding performances which is also a major reason behind its huge success.
