Moulin Rouge is one such musical movie that you will surely enjoy watching. Moulin Rouge-the movie, is one of the greatest musical films of all time and gained huge commercial success in the theaters and also won several awards.
One of the most important things to mention about Moulin Rouge is that it is an Academy Award winning jukebox musical movie. The movie was directed by reputed filmmaker Baz Luhrmann and was nominated for eight Academy Awards and ultimately managed to grab two. The film was released in 2001 and was proved to be one of the biggest hits of the year. Though the story of Moulin Rouge is very romantic and interesting, a number of melodious songs that were used in it were the main reason behind its huge success. Moulin Rouge also ranked 25 on American Film Institute’s list of best musical films in the year 2006.
Moulin Rouge is a story of early 1990s. A poor British poet named Christian (played by Ewan McGregor) comes to the village of Montmartre in Paris to write the story of his life and more importantly his love with Satine (played by Nicole Kidman), a courtesan in the theater Moulin Rouge which is now closed. As Christian starts writing, the movie focuses on the past which shows how Chritian fell in love with Satine.
It was a year earlier that Christian arrived in Paris and fell in the group of Bohemians.

At that time the Bohemians were planning to produce a theater show named “Spectacular Spectacular”. They realized that Christian had a great writing skill and wanted him to write the play for them. Satine was a part of the production and they met each other. Satine misunderstood Christian as the royal Duke who was about to finance the production and falls in love with him.
But the real Duke who was someone else wanted the climax of the play according to his wish and how Christian and Satine managed to escape from him is what the story is all about. However, the end of Moulin Rouge is very sad as a sick Satine dies in the arm of Christian and requests him to write their love story.
