There are three new servants in the house who behave very strangely. Various scary incidents begin to take place and Grace sees that the servants are involved in it. The children too face strange encounters that create a sense of suspense and fear in the audiences.

Mrs. Mills played by Fionnula Flanagan tries to make Grace see the reason behind the strangeness in the house but fails. Charles comes back suddenly only to go away a little while later. The plot of The Others intensifies when there are scenes of the intruders in the house encountered by Grace and the family. It becomes clear that it is Grace and her children who are the ghosts and the supernatural elements of the house and not the intruders. They are dead as Grace kills her children and herself, which she fails to realize. The humans or the intruders go away and it is Grace, her children and the servants who are all ghosts stay back in the house.
