The Omen, a horror film, was first made in the year 1976. This film was directed by Richard Donner. The film, characterized by chilling scenes, became popular because of the effective use of various symbolisms. The other version of The Omen was released in the year 2006. The movie made in 2006 was directed by John Moore.
Plot of The Omen:
The story of The Omen was set in Fulham of England. It narrates the childhood story of Damine Thorn. This boy was exchanged with a still born baby of a rich American diplomat named Robert Thorn. Robert Thorn and his wife adopted the baby and were unaware that Damine was the offspring of Satan and he was predestined to be Antichrist. However, Robert Thorn begins to realize this fact with the assistance of Keith Jennings who is a photographer by profession.
The film goes on to show that many people who are related to Damine meets disastrous accidents. Damine’s nanny is found dead on his fifth birthday. A new nanny named Mrs Baylock was appointed for Damine. The story unfolds in such a way that the audience comes to know that Damine is Antichrist. This fact is said to Robert by a priest. The priest also tells Robert that anyone who comes in Damine’s path will be killed. Soon after this, the priest dies in an unnatural accident and Katherine Thorn meets with an accident and is hospitalized. But she is killed by Mrs Baylock.
In the mean time Robert realizes that he needs to kill his son in order to save the world. He returns with a dagger by which he intends to kill Damine. But he faces immense resistance from Mrs Baylock. Robet kills Mrs Baylock and grabs Damine and puts him in a car. But the security guard is alarmed by the commotion and he starts chasing the car. Before Robert could kill Damine, he is shot dead by the police.
The Omen ends with the funeral scene of Robert. The close up scene on Damine shows that he is offering an evil smile to the audience. This is one of the most famous scenes of the film.

The main roles of The Omen (1976) were played by Gregorgy Peck and Lee Remick. They both played the characters of Robert Thorn and Katherine Thorn. The character of Damine Thorn was played by Harvey Stephens. The other important characters of the film were played by David Warner, Patrick Troughton, Billie Whitelaw, Holly Palance, Leo McKern and Martin Benson.
