The Mummy Returns is an American film and was directed by Stephen Sommers. It is the sequel of The Mummy. Stephen Sommers has also directed movies such as The Jungle Book and Deep Rising. The film was produced by Sean Daniel and James Jacks. The music of the movie was given by Alan Silvestri. The Mummy Returns was released on May 4, 2001.
Plot of The Mummy Returns:
The film begins at an Egyptian city of Thebes. The scene shows the Scorpion King fighting a decisive battle. However, he loses the battle and was forced to return back to the desert. His soldiers begin to die and he was the only one who was alive. He then prayed to God Anibus and his soul was exchanged for his life. He returns to Thebes with his army and wins the battle. After the conquest is over, his soul was taken back by Anibus. The audience is then transported to the future where we are introduced to O'Connells and his family.
Rick and Evie finds a chest during an archaeological excavation. The bracelet of Anibus is found there. Their son in the mean time wears the bracelet and it provided him directions to Ahm Shere. The boy was kidnapped by Imhotep and wants the child to lead him to the oasis. In the meantime Rick with the help of a pilot is able to track the kidnappers.
The two group reaches the oasis where the Scorpion King's Temple is located.
Rick then sees a series of graphics on the walls of the caves and realizes how to kill the Scorpion King. He was able to kill the Scorpion King with the Spear of Osiris.
Both Rick and Imhotep then run to save themselves from the collapsing temple. But they fall in a chasm and cling to its edges. In the mean time, Evelyn and Anck-Su-Namun also reache the spot. Rick asks her wife to leave but she takes the risk of saving her husband even though the whole area was breaking apart. She was able to save him after immense effort. But Anck-Su-Namun flees away and Imhotep willing let his hands slip to fall into the chasm.
