Rosemary's Baby is a Hollywood horror/thriller film that was released in the year 1968. This film is an Academy Award winner produced by William Castle and released under the banner of Paramount Pictures. The film is based on the novel by same name by Ira Levin. The director of Rosemary's Baby was Roman Polanski. The screenplay too is by him. The music in Rosemary's Baby is given by Krzysztof Komeda and the editing is done by Sam O'Steen. Mia Farrow is Rosemary Woodhouse and John Cassavetes is Guy Woodhouse. Ruth Gordon played the part of Minnie Castavet and Sidney Blackmer played the role of Roman Castavet. Ralph Bellamy is Dr. Saperstein. The film begins with the Woodhouse coming to New York in their new apartment. Guy Woodhouse is a struggling actor while Rosemary is his wife and is very naive. The Woodhouse has an elderly couple who are Minnie and Roman Castavet. In the film, they are shown to be the neighbors who appear harmless but are very interfering in the matters of the Woodhouse couple.
The husband becomes more close to the neighbors but Rosemary keeps her distance. Suddenly Guy gets a good role in a play as the actor who was supposed to do the part had gone blind suddenly.
Rosemary feels ignored and Guy then suggests about starting the family. Minnie Castavet brings chocolate mousse. Rosemary does not like to eat it but is forced to finish it up on her husband's insistence. She manages to throw away the rest but soon faints away. She has the vision that she is being raped by a demonic presence. She finds out that after few weeks she is pregnant and has strange cravings for food like blue cravings and raw chicken liver.
As Rosemary's pregnancy advances she suffers further complications like abdominal pains and also loses weight. When she visits Dr. Saperstein, he tells her that it is very normal. However Rosemary begins to suspect her neighbors and husband of the being part of the satanic cult. She goes into labor and loses consciousness due to sedation.

She is told by the doctor that the baby has died but Rosemary is convinced that the baby is still alive and is kept away from her by neighbors. She discovers that the child is of Satan and she was able to conceive it because of her husband's bargain with the Satan for success. She wants to kill it but instead sings it lullaby on the insistence of Roman Castavet. Ruth Gordon got the Academy Award for the Best Supporting Actress in Rosemary's Baby as Minnie Castavet.
