Night of The Living Dead was a Hollywood horror movie that was released in the year 1968. This film was remade in 1990 with special effects. The director of Night of The Living Dead (1968) was George A. Romero and the 1990 version was directed by Tom Savini. The Night of The Living Dead (1968) had the screenplay written by George A. Romero and John A. Russo. The star cast of Night of The Living Dead in the older version comprised of Duane Jones, Karl Hardman, Judith O'Dea, Marilyn Eastman, Keith Wayne, Judith Ridleyand many other supporting cast. The star cast of Night of The Living Dead in the newer version comprises of Patricia Tallman, Tom Towles, Tony Todd, Bill Moseley, William Butler, Walter Berry, Katie Finneran and McKee Anderson.
The plot of the Night of The Living Dead in the original version revolves around Johnny and Barbra who are siblings and go to a Pennsylvania cemetery. In the cemetery they encounter people who have been raised from dead. From then starts Barbra's struggle to save her from the ghosts or the living dead who are attacking and killing people. After killing those ghosts eat the flesh of the victims. Barbra manages to run to a farmhouse where she encounters Ben who saves her from those ghosts. In the farmhouse there are others as well who are hiding from the ghosts. Together they try to save themselves. In this film, the dead are awakened due to a certain radiation.
The role of Barbra was played by Judith O'Dea and the Ben was played by Duane Jones. They all devise a plan to escape the ghosts in the truck of Ben but the truck has run out of fuel that Ben needs to fulfill. Ben's truck catches fire due to carelessness and many others are transformed into living dead due to attack. However after much turmoil, there are rescue workers who come and shot Ben thinking him to be the zombie. According to few critics, Night of The Living Dead has racist elements in it. In the remake version of this film, the story remains the same as the original. However there are slight changes made by the director.

Night of The Living Dead (1990) shows the transformation of Ben into Zombie and is shot by Barbra. She is the only one who survives in the farmhouse until the rescuers come. There are special effects with make up that makes the zombie look scary. Some of the scenes have graphic representation of the killings. This film has sequels like Living Dead and Return of the Living Dead. The difference between both the versions is that in the first part, Barbra was a hysterical character while in the newer version she is portrayed as a much definite and stronger character.
