Halloween

Halloween has been made twice in Hollywood, once in 1978 and then in the year 2007. Halloween 1978 was written and directed by John Carpenter. Screenplay of the movie was by the director himself with the assistance of Debra Hill. This version was released on October 25, 1978, with the tagline “The Night HE Came Home!” Halloween 2007 was directed by Rob Zombie. Following the 1978 screenplay, this version included some touches of screenplay from Rob Zombie also. The latest version of Halloween was released on August 31, 2007, with the tagline of “Evil has a Destiny.”

Plot Outline of Halloween

The plot outlines of both the movies are same. It starts with the Halloween night of the year 1963. Police was called to a house for investigating the murder of a 17 year girl, Judith Myers, who had been brutally stabbed and killed by her 6 year old brother, Michael Myers, after she had sexual intercourse with her beau. Micheal was taken and locked in Smith’s Grove Warren County Sanitarium under the care of Dr. Sam Loomis.

After being institutionalized for long 15 years, Michael breaks out of the institution just a few days before Halloween. When he escapes on a mindless rampage, his psychiatrist Dr. Loomis keeps chasing him through every streets and nooks of the town. He knows Michael will come back to Haddonfield some time, but when the town will realize it, it will be too late for some people.
An eerie atmosphere of terror intensifies as Michael, an escaped mental patient, sets on killing a group of high school students. The hair-raising thrilling story continues with the trail.

Awards won by Halloween

Halloween 1978 had been nominated for the Saturn Award in the category of Best Horror Film in the year 1979. The movie won the Critics Award in the year 1979 in the Avoriaz Fantastic Film Festival received John Carpenter.

Halloween is one of the hallmarks in the history of thriller movies produced in Hollywood with its tight screenplay and complementing star cast.
