Exorcist

Exorcist is one of the most memorable one among all the Hollywood movies. Horror films which have been created from this industry have always drawn the attention of critics and the audience. Exorcist is actually a remake of the third part of 1973 film The Exorcist. This is why when released in 2004, Exorcist was added with a subtitle which says “The Beginning”. Many of the great Hollywood stars have appeared in this film and among them the mentionable ones are Izabella Scorupco, Ben Cross, Alan Ford, Ralph Brown, Stellan Skarsgard and many others.

Plot of Exorcist:
Father Merrin is the character who passes through a phase in which he feels lack of faith. This has taken place in his mind with the horrifying visions of World War II. He is an archaeologist who works in Cairo. He discovers some antique pieces from the Byzantine church. He realizes the presence of evil in this region. He also comes to know about a village which was completely destroyed in an epidemic. As he starts digging the graves of the dead villagers he is shocked to see all of them empty. Merrin comes across some of the inhabitants in that particular region who are possessed by the evil spirits. Among those not possessed, he finds a boy named Joseph. The evil spirit starts many kinds of disturbances in the region and the ultimate survivors of this supernatural turmoil are the Father himself and the boy. This is how the movie comes to an open end.

Trivia of Exorcist – The Beginning:
Many memorable incidents are integrally related to this film. Maintaining the sequence with the other parts of this movie had been a strong challenge to the director as well as to the screenwriter. There are many scenes in this movie which bring out the references to the previously made films. As for example a man walking in the rain is the scene that has directly been taken from the 1973 made The Exorcist. There have also been many releases of the theatrical versions of this movie in the Western countries. This version of the movie is comparatively free from all the violence it displayed in the older one. Some portions of this movie have also been used in a few advertisements.

Hollywood horror movies have always related to some historical allusions and this aspect has made them even more appealing to the audience. Exorcist is not an exception to this rule as well. Relations with the city of Cairo and ancient civilizations are the integral parts of this film.
