Dracula, an all time favorite horror movie was released in the year 1931. The film, which was released under the production banner of Universal Pictures Co.In, inspired many future horror movies released all over the world and in different languages. The source of inspiration of this Hollywood horror movie is Bram Stoker's novel Dracula.
Plot of Dracula
The story of this popular horror movie began with Renfield entering Dracula's castle after his journey amidst Carpethian Mountain situated in eastern part of Europe. Renfield was visiting the castle in order to ensure the the transportation of Carfax Abbey to Count Dracula. Renfield under the hypnotic spell of a drug became his companion in his sea voyage towards London.
Dracula sucked Lucy Weston's blood turning the later into a vampire.
Mina Seward, Dr. Jack Seward's daughter became the next victim of the dracula. Dr. Seward requested Dr. Abraham Van Helsing to help him to diagnose the proper reason of his daughter's sudden change oh health and behavior. Dr. Helsing realizes that Dracula is in fact the vampire. The doctor then narrates the possible outcome to Dr. Seward and John Harker, Mina's fiance.
The story of the movie however differed to a great extent from the original novel by Bram Stoker.

Sequels of Dracula
This horror movie inspired many directors to make film on the similar storyline. Dracula's Daughter was a sequel to Dracula and was released five years after the first movie on Dracula series. Son of Dracula with Lon Chaney in the lead role was released in 1943. Dracula died in the 1931 version but returned in the three films, all of which were released in 1940s. House of Dracula released in 1945 was preceded House of Frankenstein in 1944 and followed by Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein. Lugosi played the role of vampire in the Dracula movies released in 1930s and 1940s. In the final movie of Dracula series he played the leading role as Count Dracula.
Dracula starring Christipher Lee and Peter Cushing was a popular British horror movie released in 1958. The film was renamed as Horror of Dracula in order to avoid international copyright issue. Terence Fisher's movie Dracula was based on the Tod Browning movie released in 1931.
