Child’s Play belongs to Hollywood horror/thriller genre and was released in the year 1988. This film had all the elements of a horror film and was very successful. There were many sequels to this film. All the part had open ends in the plot that made it possible to carry forward the series. The director of Child's Play was Tom Holland and the producer was David Kirschner. Tom Holland gave the screenplay for this film. The story of Child’s Play was by Don Mancini. The film was released under the banner of Universal Studios. The horror effect in the film was also due to the music by Joe Renzetti and the editing was done by Roy E. Petersen. The story of Child’s Play revolves around the toy that had evil spirit in it. The toy was doll named Chucky, was a Good Guy doll. By the means of a voodoo ritual, a notorious serial killer transfers his soul into the body of a Good Guy doll. However the store in which this event takes place is struck by lightning and it burns down. Andy is a six year old boy who badly wants a Good Guy doll but since it was very expensive, his mother could not afford it. Instead she gave him other toys but that did not make Andy happy.
The plot of Child’s Play intensifies from this moment. On seeing Andy's unhappiness, his mother then gets him a Good Guy doll. This doll is not bought from a store instead from a peddler. The doll with the peddler was the one that had voodoo ritual in it. At night when Andy plays with the doll, we see that the doll comes alive and starts talking to him. When Maggie takes away the doll, the audience is shown that a small figure advances towards Maggie with a hammer and strikes her. She falls off from the apartment window and dies. The audience are not shown who is the killer. As the plot advances, we see that it is the doll that has unleashed a havoc.

Chucky in Child’s Play wreaks havoc while the rest of the characters think that it is Andy who is responsible for all the notorious activities. Karen who is Andy's mother somehow gets to know that the reason behind all the trouble is the doll and tries to kill it. Andy too is afraid of the doll and wants to get rid of it but Chucky simply refuses to let Andy go because he wants to enter the body of Andy. Finally Chucky is shot in the heart by Norris that kills the spirit of Charles Lee Ray.
