Hollywood is always known for the production of horror movies which have fetched many a prestigious awards to this industry. Cat People is one of those films which have been remade to get further success. The first version of this film was released in the year 1942, and the second one came out in 1982. Plot of Cat People:
There are some changes that have been made in the new version as far as the plot is concerned. Protagonist of the story is Irena Gallier, who is a young lady. She comes to meet her brother Paul and both of them have been reared by foster parents. Their parents were in the job of animal training. Irena settles in her brother home, although Paul vanishes from the scene suddenly.
The locale of the plot shockingly changes to a motel where a prostitute finds a panther in the place of her client. Police takes the big cat to a nearby zoo. Here, the audience comes across some characters who are zoologists by profession. In the very next scene Irena, too, seems to be inside the cage. She meets Paul there and learns about the werecat heritage of their family. Paul demands to have sex with her and this makes her run. Ultimately Irena involves herself in an erotic relationship with another man named Oliver although the experience turns up to be frustrating.
At the end of the film Irena transforms herself into a panther for ever and for good. She is exhibited in the zoo. But, as for the plot of the 1942 version, Irena was shown to commit suicide at the end.
