The Chronicles of Narnia is a series of seven fantasy children novels written by C. S. Lewis. This was considered as a classic in children’s literature and is one of author’s popularly known works. The novel has also been adapted into movies. The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe was first adapted for television in the year 1967. The movie was projected into ten different episodes, each episode of thirty minutes.
Helen Standage directed all the ten episodes and Trevor Preston wrote the screenplay. At present it is unavailable for viewing at home.In the year 1979 was once more adapted for The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Its second adaptation was actually an animated special co-produced by Bill Melendez and by the Children's Television Workshop. David D. Connell did the screenplay of the movie. It also grabbed the Emmy award for being an outstanding animated program.
The Chronicles of Narnia: the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe also became the first animated feature film ever made for television. The movie was also presented into four series of BBC television serials, The Chronicles of Narnia. All the four serials were broadcast into television series. The serials were later edited into three feature films and were released on VHS and DVD.
In this fantasy movie, four children, Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy are evacuated from London in 1940 due to the recent outbreak of the Second World War.
The children are sent to live in the house of Professor Digory Kirke. There the children discover many uncanny situations. As the story progresses it unfolds many interesting and mysterious situations that occur in their lives. At the end of the story all the four children become kings and queens and spend several years in Narnia before finally returning to the real world where they find themselves again as children.
The Chronicles of Narnia: the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe in its list of characters encompass names like Peter Pevensie, Susan Pevensie, Edmund Pevensie, Lucy Pevensie, Mr. Tumnus, Queen Jadis, The White Witch, Aslan, Professor Kirke, Maugrim,
Father Christmas, Giant Rumblebuffin and others.
