Pirates of the Caribbean: the Curse of the Black Pearl is a 2003 adventure themed film. The making of the movie was inspired by the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disney theme parks. The story revolves around pirate Captain Jack Sparrow and blacksmith Will Turner. Pirates of the Caribbean: the Curse of the Black Pearl was directed by Gore Verbinski and was produced by Jerry Bruckheimer.
The movie became a huge commercial success grossing more than $654 million worldwide. The Curse of the Black Pearl was the first in two sequels Dead Man's Chest and At World's End. Special casting was done for the movie with the intention of making it a most successful in the series of fantasy movies. The important cast members include the following:

The movie also grabbed many awards Johnny Depp won the Best Actor at the Screen Actors Guild Awards, the MTV Movie Awards and the Empire Awards. Johnny Depp was also nominated for the Golden Globes, the BAFTA Awards and the 76th Academy Awards. The movie was also nominated for Best Make-Up/Hair, a Golden Reel Award Sound Editing, two VES Awards category for visual effects, and the People's Choice Awards for Favorite Motion Picture and a Saturn Award for Best Costumes.
