Rat Race is a comedy movie of 2001 directed and produced by Jerry Zucker. The story of Rat Race was written by Andy Breckman. The movie was released on 17th August 2001 and grossed $55.8 million at the box office in the United States. The plot of Rat Race revolves around six teams of people who are given a mission of racing from a casino in Las Vegas to New Mexico train station, where a storage locker contains huge sums of money. The first team that reaches the storage locker wins and keeps the money. However, these six teams were actually only a part of a betting game that they were unaware of.

Plot of Rat Race
In the film, Rat Race, Donald Sinclair (John Cleese) owns the biggest and snazziest casino in Las Vegas. In order to entertain some of his wealthiest patrons, Sinclair stages the most original high stakes game. In his there are six teams who contest for the big jackpot, which is two million dollars in a storage locker hundreds of miles away. There is only one rule for winning and that is to get there first.

The interesting part in the film is that the racers are unaware of the tycoon’s scheme. Every move of six teams are being tracked by Donald Sinclair and his rich buddies It is just a matter of time before the teams figure out who actually stands to win the most before they can switch course to seek a different kind of pay-off. Rat Race is a fast paced movie and a must watch for those who enjoy comedy combined with some exciting moments. The film is said to be loose remake of the movie “It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World”.
