A runaway hit in the genre of Romantic Comedies, Four Weddings and a Funeral have earned accolades not only for its exquisite story line but also for the brilliant performance of its cast and crew. Directed by Mike Newell, the movie happens to be one of the highest grossing British films. Plot outline of Four Weddings and a Funeral: The story is based in the city of London and also the captivating country of Scotland. The entire film revolves around the adventures of a group of young friends as perceived through the eyes of Charles, who is the protagonist of the movie. Charles happens to be a suave British, who is highly attracted towards Carrie, a ravishing American lady. Four Weddings and a Funeral becomes significant cause it is coincidentally the meeting venue of the leading cast of the film. The first marriage ceremony is that of Angus and Laura, where both Charles and Carrie go. It is here that the two meet for the very first time, along with their group of single friends. Both spend a night together, however without any commitment from the woman's side.

The two meet once again, in the wedding of Bernard and Lydia, for whom love sparked at the very first wedding. This wedding is full of comic extravagance, and also a twist. Despite being disheartened by the engagement news of Carrie, they have a great night together. There are a handful of meetings between the leading pairs, where Charles confesses his love for Carrie, which is softly turned down. The third wedding is that of Carrie, where we see a depressed Charles. In this wedding Gareth, one of his friends dies of a sudden cardiac arrest. Charles decides to marry Henrietta, more out of desperation. However the 4th marriage ceremony, ends in a comic debacle, and the marriage is called off. Finally the two leading characters, come in union, but without any social sanctity of marriage.
