The American action comedy film Beverly Hills Cop (1984) was directed by Martin Brest. It is an Academy Award nominated film that starred Eddie Murphy in its lead role. Beverly Hills Cop was the movie that shot actor Eddie Murphy to international stardom and fame, and he won the People’s Choice Award in the year 1985 for Favorite Motion Picture. He also won a nomination for a Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture in 1985 in the Comedy/Musical category. The film was a great box office hit earning an estimated profit of US$234 million, narrowly ranking as the second biggest hit of the year 1984, after Ghostbusters.

This 1984 hit Hollywood comedy was written by Danilo Bach, edited by Billy Weber, distributed by Paramount Pictures. The movie was released on December 5, 1984, with a total budget of US$15,000,000, and a running duration of 105 minutes. This movie was followed by Beverly Hills Cop II, its sequel, in 1987.

| Plot Outline of Beverly Hills Cop
If stated in a nutshell, the plot of the movie revolves around a happy-go-lucky Detroit cop who pursues a murder investigation and finally discovers himself dealing with the entirely different culture of Beverly Hills. Axel Foley, a Detroit cop, is very delighted when he receives a surprise visit from Mikey Tandino, his best friend. After arriving to Axel’s place, and within a few days, Mikey is killed by a man named Zack, in front of Axel. Axel follows Zack and reaches Beverly Hills and then the real comedy starts.
