Plot of Born Yesterday:
The plot of the films centers on a corrupt tycoon and his showgirl mistress. The film tells the story about an illiterate and uncultured showgirl who appears to be a literate and smart woman. It is the story of her liberty from the uncouth tycoon.
The main cast of the movie includes Harry Brock, the tycoon, Emma Billie Dawn, the mistress and Jim Devery, the crooked lawyer. These three persons visit Washington, DC. The main purpose for visiting Washington DC is to influence some politicians. Harry wants to influence the politicians through Billie. But her lack of manners and ignorance arise feelings of disgust in Harry. To make her suitable in the modern society Harry hires Paul Verrall.
The story finds a new turn with the blossoming relationship between Paul and Billie. Her tutor's encouragement makes Billie a smart lady who can now think about herself. Paul and Billie fall in love with each other.
The story proceeds with the conflict between Billie and Harry resulting in Billie's liberation. To hide some of his properties from the government, Harry had signed them over to Billie. His lawyer had persuaded him to do so. When Harry wants them back Billie claims her independence from his domination in exchange of the assets. Finally, Billie promises to return them back to Harry as soon as he leaves Billie and Paul to lead their own life.
