A Beautiful Mind is written by Sylvia Nasar and Akiva Goldsman. Directed by Ron Howard, this movie has made its way to the classic list of Hollywood movies. A Beautiful Mind was released on December 21, 2001 in the United States of America. The film cost $ 60 million to make and earned gross revenue of $ 313 million worldwide. The movie is an adaptation from the Pulitzer Prize nominated book by Sylvia Nasar.
Plot of A beautiful Mind
The story starts with John Nash studying at Princeton University and befriending Charles. He goes on to become a brilliant mathematician and later meets Alicia, who plays the role of his student. The two falls in love and gets married. The twist in the story starts when he is enlisted by the department of defense for cracking codes. His assignments lead to violence and Nash turns paranoid and delusional.
After a series of shock therapy and medication, Nash finally believes that all the assignments were in fact delusions of his mind and he falls back to the routine of his former life. But the medications were affecting his relationship with his wife and intellectual capacity. Nash discontinues the medication and suffers relapse of his delusions. He almost kills his own child out of neglect.
The movie ends with Nash living peacefully with his hallucinations after the couple comes to terms with his condition. Nash is able to continue working without medications and rebuilds his life.

Though there has been some criticism for its inaccuracy to portray some parts of Nash’s life, A Beautiful Mind is well received by critics. It has won many Academy Awards including Best Director, Best Picture, Best Supporting Actress and Best Adapted Screenplay. It was also nominated for Beast Editing, best Score, Best Makeup and Best Leading Actor.
