Even if you ignore the basic theme of Transformers- the movie, you can still enjoy the stunning performance with high tech computer animation that was quite a major challenge in 1986, the time when the film was released. The overall plot of the story depicted in the cinematic version of this one time television series is really gripping and transcends the audience through a mind blowing into a mechanized world where machines fight the machines for freedom and the right to exist. Written by Ron Friedman and directed by Nelson Shin, the animation presented in The Transformers surpassed the boundaries that were set in most of the contemporary and previous animated productions. The screenplay and cinematography are excellent in this production adding new dimensions to the animation portrayed in the movie version of The Transformers.
The most fascinating thing about The Transformers is the perfect voice casting adding quite a bit of leverage to express the mood of different characters. The voice performances of Norman Alden as Kranix, Jack Angel as Astrotrain, Greg Berger as Grimlock, Susan Blu as Arcee and Arthur Burghardt as Devastator bring the animated characters to life on the silver screen. The Animation in Transformers is so realistically portrayed that it will never make the viewers realize, what they are watching is a fantastic result of an overall technical production. The fantasy depicted in the story fits perfectly well with the reality of the eternal struggle between good and bad.
