There are few movies, which can be described as "never having a dull moment". Home Alone falls in this small category. Home Alone is mostly shot in the suburbs of Chicago, which includes Winnetka and Wilmette. The main character of the movie is Kevin McCallister, an eight-year-old boy. He is his left alone in the house when his family flies away to Paris for their Christmas Holidays.
Actors like Macaulay Culkin, Joe Pesci, Daniel Stern, Marv Murchens, Roberts Blossom and Catherine O’Hara play the main characters of Home Alone. It was this movie, which made Culkin a world-renowned actor. His cute dimple and the mischief in his eyes made him loved by his audience.
The story of the movie is very interesting and full of adventure. Kevin has been scolded by his mom for misbehaving and is sent to his room as punishment while the family is preparing for the big holiday. Kevin silently prays in his room and wishes his family would disappear.The next day his family leaves for Paris in a hurry and forgets to take him out of his room. Kevin is left alone in the house. He goes on a shopping spree and unintentionally steals a toothbrush.
He also watches a gangster movie. He does a lot of things that he was otherwise not allowed to do. However, the best part in the movie is how a boy of his age fights to save his precious home from robbers.
As the story of Home Alone proceeds, Kevin finds that two burglars, Harry and Marv are keeping an eye on his house. He turns the light towards the basement so that the burglars can feel that his family is at home. He also fools the burglars with shadows of mannequins and cut out basketball players. The situation becomes more comic when Kevin enacts a scene from the gangster movie aloud so that the robbers feel that a murder has taken place in the house.

Home Alone ends in a sweet note when his mother returns home on the Christmas morning on a van full of Polka Musicians. The rest of the family follows her. Kevin hugs his mother and impresses them by telling that he went shopping. He, however, does not impress them by telling about the burglars.
Home Alone was the third highest grossing movie when it was released. Later on it was found that this movie was the third highest grossing movie of all times. At the end of the year 1990, this movie was the highest grossing movie.
