After the overwhelming success of 'The Spy who Loved Me', Moonraker was next in the series of James Bond movie. It falls under the category of Action and Science Fiction movies of Hollywood. Released in 27th June, in the year 1979, this film got nominationed for Oscar Awards. This itself speaks about the popularity of this movie. This movie has been directed by Lewis Gilbert and it was jointly produced by William P. Cartlidge, Albert R. Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson. On the basis of a novel by Ian Fleming, the screenplay was done by Christopher Wood.
Plot of Moonraker:
Moonraker, a space shuttle built by the Drax Industries, is hijacked mid way, while it is on its way to United Kingdom. The crew members of this 747 space shuttle are also killed. James Bond is employed to investigate along with Hugo Drax. At the Drax laboratories, he meets Dr. Holly Goodhead, who is a CIA agent as well as a NASA astronaut,and is employed for investigating Drax for the government of the United States. Chan, one of the thugs of Drax, tries to kill Bond in the lab but fails in his attempt.

He then follows Bond, on his journey to Venice and tries once more to kill him, but fails in this attempt, too. Goodhead and Bond follow the trail of Drax and reaches Brazil. Here they encounter a seven inch Goliath Jaws, who is a towering giant blessed with metal teeth. After their narrow escape, tio their surprise, they discover a space station that cooupies a large area. They also come to know about plan of Drax, to make use of nerve gas in a genocidal project. Bond along with Holly has to succeed in his final task, to prevent Drax from succeeding his mission. In order to know the end and to find out how they stop Drax, from carrying out his plans, you will have to watch this movie.

Along with Oscar nomination for Best Effects and Visual Effects, Moonraker also got nominated in the category of Best Science Fiction Film in Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films, USA. However, it only managed to win the Golden Screen award in Germany.
