The Matrix is a science fiction film, which was released in the year 1999. This film was directed by Larry and Andy Wachowsk and produced by Joel Silver. The music was composed by Don Davis. The movie received four Academy Awards in categories such as film editing, visual effects, sound effects editing and sound.
Plot of The Matrix
The Matrix begins with Thomas A. Anderson, played by Keanu Reeves. He is a hacker and leads a secret life. He uses a pseudo name "Neo", by which the world knows him. He is very eager to know about Matrix. Several cryptic messages on his computers and encounter with Morpheus gives him the chance to know about the truth of Matrix. Neo was offered a red pill, which he swallows. He later discovers himself lying naked in a chamber filled with liquid compositions and gas. He found that his body is connected with wires. He is ultimately rescued by Morpheus, who explains him the situation he was into.
The storyline goes like this, the human beings are fighting against intelligent machines in the year 2199. Morpheus and his crew trains themselves to fight against these machines. Neo is one of the members of the group. Neo has special abilities. He also undergoes training of martial arts. According to Morpheus, if Neo is able to understand his abilities, he will be one of the best fighters. The group then takes Neo to the home of the Oracle. The woman in the Oracle predicts that Neo has the 'gift' but is waiting for something. According to the lady, he is probably waiting for the next life.
This let Neo interpret that he is not "The One". The woman further adds that, Morpheus have immense faith in him. In the mean time, Cypher, a crew member betrayed the group. Everyone dies except Neo, Tank, Trinity and Morpheus. But Morpheus was imprisoned within the Matrix.
Both Trinity and Neo then storms through the building of Matrix and rescues their leader. Before Neo could get out of the place, he was shot dead by Agent Smith. Trinity decides not to accept the death of Neo and kisses him. He becomes alive again. Agent Smith tries to kill him again but was unsuccessful in his attempts. Neo ultimately killed him. Neo further understands the concept of Matrix and also realizes that he is The One. A short epilogue follows to show that Neo is back in the Matrix. The film ends when he hung up the phone and flies to the sky.

The Matrix grossed $171 million in the U.S and approximately earned $460 million from all over the globe. In U.S alone the film sold more than 3 million copies of DVD.
