The Matrix Revolutions is the final phase of the Matrix Trilogy. With Matrix and Matrix Reloaded, the audience is now aware what the movie is dealing with. The final chapter is just another extension from the second movie which ended with Neo unconscious placed opposite Bayne. This movie seeks to uncover those things left out in the second movie. It has to be seen what is in store in the final combat between Neo and the machines. Released in 2003, Wachowski brothers continue to thrill the audience with their third venture.
The movie:
The Matrix Revolutions begin from the point where it ended, in the nursing chamber. The a search is on for Neo who is in some station connecting the real world and the Matrix. Zion is now led by an army which is hell bound in saving it and fighting the machines out. The Merovingian captures Neo who is freed by Trinity at gunpoint. Neo finds it difficult without entering into a pact with the machines in the city of machines. He tells them about the impending danger due to smith who has defied all the controls of the machines. With a lot of action sequences between the machines and the humans, with rockets and guns, the story progresses smoothly. Neo saves the humans and the machines and in the process looses himself. The Architect assures that whoever wants to be "unplugged" from the Matrix will be freed. A new dawn descends with the first plant in the Matrix.
Characters and success:
Being an extension of the other Matrix movies, it also has same characters and actors except Mary Alice, who replaced the earlier Oracle. Keanu Reeves is Neo, Laurence Fishburne is Morpheus, Hugo Weaving and Carrie Anne-Moss is Agent smith and Trinity respectively. Helmut Bakaitis is the architect among many others who have supported the cast of the film. The movie was very well received, and declared a hit sweeping over 80 million $ in the US alone in the first week of its release. It was liked for its complex structure displayed with brilliant special effects and stunts. The trilogy has also been considered as a "complex literature" by many.
