Fight Club

Adapted from 1996 novel Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk, Fight Club is a 1999 American feature film. The movie was directed by David Fincher and produced by Laura Ziskin. Though initially several other directors were roped in for directing the film, finally David Fincher was hired to direct on the basis of his interest in the project. Though he had some difficulties with studio 20th Century Fox, Fight Club turned out to be a major top grosser. Since its theatrical run, favorable reception was acknowledged. The overall review approvals besides critical acclaim were moderate if not great. The film was even considered to be a reflection of the developing alternative consciousness. The anti-culture considerations were also entertained to a great extent in the film.

Though Fight Club failed to meet with box office expectations at box office, the film received altered reactions from the film critics. Besides being controversial the film was also one of the most talked about film in the year 1999. The film was even exposed the visual style in cinema and even introduced a new mood in the political life of America. The much waited commercial success was however attained when the movie had DVD release. This finally established Fight Club as a cult film arousing faith of a different kind. The film even managed to get imbued in the American society inspiring people to set up their own fight clubs.

The movie plot of Fight Club:
The film Fight Club is narrated by a young man (Edward Norton). He finds comfort in cloaking terminal illness and assisting ailment support groups. Moving from one group to the other, he encounters another pretender, the quite morose Marla Singer (Helena Bonham Carter) who immediately gets influenced. While returning from a business trip, he meets Tyler Durden (Brad Pitt). They became fast friends and bonds over a mutual disgust for corporate culture hypocrisy. After sometime, two of them start a club, known as the Fight Club which gets converted to a bar basement where angry men vent out their frustrations. The Fight Club becomes a real priority for the general mass and starts a cross-country expansion. Having the intensity of a pitch-black comedy, fight Club rocked from the time it got released.
