Diamonds Are Forever

If you are crazy about spy films and an ardent admirer of Bond movies then take some time out for watching the movie, Diamonds Are Forever. The film was released in the year 1971 and was the seventh spy film of the British James Bond series. It was the sixth film to star Sean Connery as the fictional MI6 agent James Bond.

Out of the four films directed by Guy Hamilton, this was the second one. The story was mainly based on the novel written by Ian Fleming. In this film, Bond portrays the role of a diamond smuggler in order to get into a smuggling circle. As the story of Diamonds Are Forever progresses, Bond soon gets to uncover a plot by his former bane Blofeld. The diamonds are used for building a giant satellite in order to hold the world to ransom.

From the perspective of commercial success, the film Diamonds Are Forever attained tremendous success. It even managed to get mixed reviews of critics. One of the most interesting features of the film was its humorous approach. In the beginning of the movie, James Bond is seen impersonating Ernst Stavro Blofeld who had been responsible for his wife's death. After conducting several interrogations, Bond becomes successful in tracing Blofeld. The tracing was more difficult for Bond due to surgical creations of look alikes. As the movie progresses, it gets more and more interesting. The original intention of the producers was to make Diamonds Are Forever a far-reaching film series so that it could appeal to American audience.

The target was revival of several aspects of Gold finger which also included the hiring of director, Guy Hamilton.

The film Diamonds Are Forever was the last movie of Bond series by Eon to use SPECTRE or Blofeld. These two were the elements that did not get sported in Ian Fleming's book. While casting was considered for the film, the producers decided to replace George Lazenby with John Gavin. The shooting for the film commenced in the year 1970 and many scenes were shot in the deserts of Las Vegas. Most of the scenes of the film was shot mainly at the Los Angeles International Airport, Universal City Studios and eight hotels of Las Vegas. The climax of the oil rig episode was shot at California Oceanside.
