The Bourne Supremacy

Filmed on a Robert Ludlum novel and directed by Paul Greengrass, The Bourne Supremacy is a Hollywood film which was released in 2004. The screenplay was done by the eminent duo of Brian Helgeland and Tony Gilroy. This film was made as a sequel to The Bourne Identity. The Bourne trilogy was rounded off when The Bourne Ultimatum hit the theaters in 2007. The Bourne Supremacy, upon releasing in the United States of America, received instant critical as well as public acclamation as one of the most well made Action/Sci Fi movies ever. Universal Studios promoted the film to the global audience.

Casting
The Bourne Supremacy is noted for its free-flowing narrative and immaculate casting. The role of the main protagonist Jason Bourne is played by Matt Damon. Joan Allen plays the role Pamela 'Pam' Landy, the CIA Deputy Director and the chief of the task force. Julia Stiles portrays Nicky Parsons. The character of Ward Abbott is impersonated by Brian Cox. Plot
This film being a sequel of The Bourne Identity, picks up the narrative a couple of years after the happenings in The Bourne Identity. The film opens with Bourne and his girlfriend Marie settled in Goa, India. Only a glimpse of nonlinear narrative techniques has been used in the beginning, when Bourne recollects a murder in one of the hotels in Berlin. Kirill, the actual culprit, attempts to incriminate Bourne as the assassin. Pamela Landy is investigating this case from Berlin. Bourne manages to escape with Mary after sensing that Kirill has come down to Goa to eliminate him. Kirill, however, spots Bourne driving away with his wife. Jason Bourne is at the driver's seat while Mary is sitting by him. In order to misguide Kirill, Bourne changes seat with Mary. Kirill, thinking that Bourne is driving the car, snipes at the driver and the car goes out of control and crashes off the bridge into a river. Marie is in a severe condition while Jason Bourne has to leave her unattended.

The film progresses as Bourne comes over to Naples in Italy. He contemplates on the possible reasons as to why he is being hunted down by Nicky Parsons.

Several events take place after that, allowing for crucial developments with regards to proving Bourne's innocence. The CIA eventually gets the tape that bears witness to Abbott's role in the assassination. Meanwhile, Kirill gets wounded in a car crash in Moscow. The film ends in New York City in a dramatic fashion as Landy and Bourne get involved in a telephonic conversation before Jason Bourne walks into the crowded streets of New York.

Even though The Bourne Supremacy has been criticized for its weak cinematography, it has received good response from the international audience.
