Sean Connery

Sir Thomas Sean Connery, a retired Scottish actor and producer was born on 25th August 1930 in Fountainbridge, Edinburgh. Known as one of first actor to portray James Bond in cinema, and subsequently starring in seven Bond films, Sean Connery is a very popular male Hollywood actor even today. Sean Connery is well known for retaining his Scottish accent in films, regardless of the nationality of the character played. Repeatedly named as one of the most attractive men alive by various magazines, though he is older than most sex symbols, Sir Thomas Sean Connery is one of the Popular Hollywood Male Actors even today.

In his early life, Sean Connery’s first job was as a milkman, with St. Cuthbert's Co-operative Society. Then he joined the Royal Navy, but was afterwards discharged on medical grounds because of a stomach ulcer. In the year 1953, Sean Connery became third in the tall man's category for the Mr. Universe contest. It was then that fellow competitor, Johnny Isaacs suggested that he audition for a stage production of South Pacific, which led to various stage, television, and film work.
The first major breakthrough for Sean Connery came through the role of secret agent James Bond, produced by EON, followed by an unofficial Warner Brothers Thunderball-remake. Even though Bond was his most famous role, Sir Thomas Sean Connery has maintained a successful steady career since. Some other box-office hits of his include The Man Who Would Be King, Murder on the Orient Express, A Bridge Too Far, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, The Hunt for Red October, The Russia House, The Rock, and Entrapment and so on.

Sean Connery has also won some reputable Academy Awards in Hollywood, like for his role in The Untouchables in the year 1987; Connery won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor and the BAFTA award for the European production The Name of the Rose.

Besides, Sean Connery is also quite a vocal and visible supporter of the Scottish National Party, often campaigning for their cause of Scottish independence. In the year July 2000, Queen Elizabeth II knighted Sir Thomas Sean Connery.
