Roger Moore

Sir Roger George Moore, KBE is an English actor known for his suave and witty demeanor and character. Roger Moore is best known for portraying two British action heroes, Simon Templar in the television series ‘The Saint’ from 1962 to 1969, and James Bond in seven films from 1973 to 1985. Roger Moore has also been a UNICEF ambassador since 1991. Born on 14th October 1927 in Stock well, London, he is known all over as one of the most Popular Hollywood Male Actors of his time.

In his early life, Roger Moore served in the Royal Army Service Corps, commanding a small depot in West Germany. Later he was transferred to the entertainment branch, and immediately prior to his National Service, he was for a brief time part of the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA). In the early 1950s, Roger Moore even worked as a male model, appearing in print advertisements for knitwear, and a wide range of other such products.
Roger Moore’s earliest known television appearance was on 27th May 1950, in Drawing Room Detective, a one-off program, as then BBC was the only channel. Roger Moore even won a contract with the MGM in the 1950s, but the films that followed were not quite a success. Finally, it was the small screen television in which Moore made his name. Roger Moore was the eponymous hero in the serial named Ivanhoe, and he also appeared in the series The Alaskans, as well as playing Beau Maverick, an English cousin of frontier gambler Bret Maverick (James Garner) in Maverick. It was not until the 1961 that worldwide fame arrived, when Lew Grade cast Moore as Simon Templar in a new adaptation of ‘The Saint’, based on the novels by Leslie Charteris.
