The next year he got nominated for the award of the best actor for other films like Chinatown and Roman Polanski. One Flew over the Cuckoo’s Nest gave him his first Oscar.

His next big hit was Reds for which he won the best supporting actor at BAFTA. The same film also earned him the nominations at Golden Globe Awards and Academy Awards. In 1985, Prizzi’s Honor earned him nomination at Academy Awards and he won the Golden Globe Award.
