Ingrid Bergman is considered to be one of the top female actors who have ever been a part of the film industry and Hollywood. Ingrid Bergman is a Swedish actress who has won the Oscars on three occasions, and Emmy Award on two occasions. This fact clearly shows how successful she has been in Hollywood. At the first ceremony of Tony Award in the year 1947, she won the award for the Best Actress. She was honored by the American Film Institute as the fourth greatest female star in the history of American film industry.
Early life of Ingrid Bergman
Born on the 29th of August, 1915, in Stockholm, her parents were Justus Samuel Bergman, a Swedish national, and Friedel Adler Bergman, a German. Her mother passed away when she was just three years of age, and at the age of her thirteen, her father died too. She had to live with an uncle and an aunt, along with her five cousins.
When Ingrid Bergman was seventeen years of age, she went to audition at Stockholm's Royal Dramatic Theatre and was chosen. After being hired at a film studio in Sweden, she had to discontinue her commitments at the Royal Dramatic Theatre so that she can pursue her film career on a full time basis. Her very first film role was a small role in the film Munkbrogreven (1935). On the 10th of July, 1937, she got married to Petter Lindstrom, a dentist, and later gave birth to her daughter in 1938.

Despite having differences with the producer, the film was an instant success and Ingrid Bergman immediately rose to fame and publicity. During the period 1938-1949, she delivered hits after hits. Some of the noted films of this time are Casablanca, For Whom the Bell Tolls, Gaslight, The Bells of St. Mary's, The Keys of the Kingdom, Joan of Arc, and a number of Hitchcock films. She had also made a mark in Italian films.
Some of her noted films in the 1950s and 1960s include Stromboli, La Paura, Anastasia, Indiscreet, and The Inn of the Sixth Happiness, Auguste, The Visit, The Yellow Rolls-Royce, Cactus Flower, and many more. She was equally successful in television as well as theater.
This all time great actress passed away on her birthday in the year 1982.
