Elizabeth Hurley – the great Hollywood Actor

Elizabeth Jane Hurley or popularly known as Elizabeth Hurley is one of the most popular Hollywood female actors of the contemporary times. By birth a British, Elizabeth Hurley came to the limelight when she was spotted with his boyfriend famous Hollywood actor Hugh Grant at the premier of his film Four Weddings and a Funeral in the year 1994. Since then, there has not been any looking back for this British actor. Along with his former boyfriend Hugh Grant, Elizabeth Hurley continued to attract the limelight as much as Grant. Born on June 10, 1965, Elizabeth Hurley has been a popular actress, former fashion model as well as a beachwear designer. She was crowned as the most photographed woman in 1990.

The Early Days

Elizabeth Hurley, the great English actor was born in Basingstoke in Hampshire, England. The daughter of a major in the British Army, Reg Hurley and the schoolteacher mother Angela, Elizabeth Hurley was very talented since her early days. He started taking lessons in Ballet from the childhood. She joined Kempshott Junior School and Infant school and later on she moved on to Queen Mary's College in Basingstoke. She also joined Basingstoke College of Technology and went on to win a scholarship to the London Studio Centre.
Since the very beginning, Hurley was very fashion conscious. She involved herself with punk fashion. She also dye her hair pink and pierced her nose.

The Road to Success

Elizabeth Hurley started gaining public attention from very early days. In early 1980s, she won a Face of the Year competition organized by a local newspaper in Winchester. That provided her a modeling contract with a prestigious firm from London. She started her career in acting with the an appearance in Aria in 1987. She also portrayed the title character in a four part television drama, Christabel. During this period, Elizabeth Hurley worked in several low budget British as well as Hollywood films.


Her works during that time include a thriller Passenger 57 which became very popular in 1992.

She and her Fashion

Elizabeth Hurley became vastly popular for several fashion assignments. She became the main spokesmodel of a top cosmetics company Estée Lauder in 1995. This was a great venture for her as within the first month of her assignment, she launched the perfume Pleasures which became a best selling product. In 2007, Estée Lauder renewed their contract with Elizabeth Hurley for the 13th year.

Elizabeth was also seen on the covers of various fashion magazine including Vogue. She also started designing beachwear and her works immediately became very popular. In 2005, her works Elizabeth Hurley Beach came in the various famous fashion stores including select Saks Fifth Avenue stores in the United States, Harrod's in the UK, and many others throughout the world. In 2007, she was voted best “British Body Idol” in New Woman magazine.

Elizabeth Hurley and Her Films

Elizabeth Hurley became very popular for her works in the British as well as Hollywood films. Along with her boyfriend Hugh Grant, she founded UK-based production company, Simian Films in 1994 and started producing films. Elizabeth Hurley was seen in many popular films including Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery (1997), Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me (1999), Bedazzled, EdTV, Double Whammy, Serving Sara etc.
