Melrose Hill in Hollywood is tucked away near Hancock Park and is one of the untamed areas in the vicinity.
For administrative reasons, Melrose Hill is normally enumerated under communities and neighborhoods of Hollywood and not under those of East Hollywood. This area is sprawled along the north and east of the freeway 101. The Melrose Avenue is assigned by road directions and signs so that tourists coming over there for the first time do not face any difficulty in reaching their destination.

However, most of the inmates are still not aware of the new name of the street and hence, they consider it a part of either Koreatown or Little Armenia. Less known or extremely popular, Melrose Hill in Hollywood found its name mentioned in 2003 in the Los Angeles Magazine, which honored the area as one of the city's 'Ten Great Neighborhoods'.
