The Hollywood Christmas Parade is an annual parade that has been taking place for almost 75 years. The Hollywood Christmas Parade occurred on the weekend, which followed the Thanksgiving Day in Los Angeles’ Hollywood community. The 3.5 mile route of this Christmas Parade in Hollywood in California’s Los Angeles followed the stretch of Sunset Boulevard and the Hollywood Boulevard. The parade featured a number of celebrities as participants.
History of the Hollywood Christmas Parade -
The Hollywood Christmas Parade was in the risk of being called off. So the City of Los Angeles has started to sponsor the parade from 2007 and has changed its name to Hollywood’s Santa Parade. This parade was earlier known as the Santa Claus Lane Parade. The inaugural Hollywood Christmas Parade, which was held in 1928, had Jeanette Loff – an actress and Santa Claus as participants. The local community and businesses helped to increase the popularity of the parade.
Hollywood Christmas Parade 2007 –
The 76th Hollywood Christmas Parade was held on the 25th of December, 2007 – it was a Sunday at the parade timing was 5pm. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce used to organize the parade but made a decision to call off the parade as it was running out of fund.
After the decision to pay for the parade it was re-named without any change to the route and time schedule.
The City Council even managed to gather some stars together for the Hollywood Santa Parade and the overall participation of the stars was just the same of that of the last few years. Bob Barker was the Grand Marshal for the Hollywood Santa Parade of 2007. Other stars who participated in the parade comprise Jamie Farr, Rip Taylor, Rex Lee, Dick Van Patten, Tony Plana and Melody Thomas Scott. A gathering of around 125,000 spectators were present to watch the parade, which enjoyed a live coverage on ‘CityView Channel 35’.

The Hollywood Christmas Parade is not similar to that of the fabulous Rose Parade of Pasadena. In fact, it is a grander festive occasion with over 12 multihued marching bands, 20 extravagant floats, radio and television stars, cartoon characters, elephants and camels. George Lopez was the customary Grand Marshal. The Grand Marshals at the recent parades have comprised of Charlton Heston, Tony Danza, David Hasselhoff, Lou Gossett and Bob Hope.
