Ron Howard is counted among the best of Hollywood directors. He is a talented film personality known as an Academy Award winning movie director. Ron Howard was born on 1st March, 1954 in Duncan Oklahoma. Movie was in his blood. He is the son of the great director, actor and writer, Rance Howard and the actress Jean Speegle Howard. From the very beginning of his life, he was very passionate about movies. Clint Howard, his younger brother is also a well known actor. Ron Howard is a born genius and so he was not in need of any formal professional degree to become a film maker. He attended the University of Southern California's School of Cinematic Arts but did not complete his studies.
Ron Howard ventured in the direction of movies in the year 1977 and his first project was “Grand Theft Auto”. Howard was also directing several television serials. He is known for directing films like “Apollo 13”, “Cocoon”, “Willow” and “Splash”. “Apollo 13” got numerous nominations in Academy Awards. One cannot forget the aura of “A Beautiful Mind”. Ron Howard won the Oscar for “Best Director” category. Cindrella Man is his another fascinating production. His latest film, “The Da Vinci Code” broke all the records of Hollywood box office. Ron exploited the acting skills of Tom Hanks to the fullest extent.

Ron Howard has efficiently dealt with a wide variety of subjects and characters, ranging from short subject in Old Paint to the psychology of a mathematician in “A Beautiful Mind”.


It was not an easy job to portray the schizophrenic delusional episodes of John Forbes Nash in the film medium. “A Beautiful Mind” had actually revolutionized the concept of a movie. Nobody has ever thought of giving a film version to Dan Brown's The Da Vinci Code before Ron Howard. The subject of the film is controversial and it received mixed reviews. But even the greatest of film critics agreed that Ron Howard has done a marvelous job though the movie has been opposed by certain sections in many parts of the world. It however goes to the credit of Ron Howard that has shown the courage and willingness to explore any subject under the sun.
