Toronto is the homeland of Norman Jewison. Born on 21st of July in the year 1926, Jewison attended the well-known school called Kew Beach School. He graduated from the Victoria College affiliated to the University of Toronto in the year 1949. He also worked in the Navy at the time of the Second World War.

As a student, he became involved in acting as well as directing. Along with direction, he also continued writing. He displayed his talent in theatre at a very young age. After completing his graduation, Norman Jewison decided to act in show business. He also went to the Hollywood for better opportunities.
As a film director, Norman Jewison excelled in the film like “Forty Pounds of Trouble”, “Send Me No Flowers”, “The Cincinnati Kid”, “In the Heat of the Night “, “Gaily, Gaily”, “The Russians Are Coming”, “the Russians Are Coming”, “Jesus Christ Superstar”, “F.I.S.T.”, “Best Friends”, “A Soldier's Story”, “Moonstruck”, “Other People's Money”, “Bogus”, “Dinner With Friends”, and “The Statement”. Apart from these, there are a myriad of films in which Norman Jewison served as a director.

Norman Jewison started his career as a movie director with his 1962 movie titled “Forty Pounds of Trouble”. This film is basically a comedy film. His movies like “The Thrill of It All” and “Send Me No Flowers” are comedy films.


After the completion of the film called “The Art of Love”, Newman Jewison decided to escape his usual genre of movie making and handle some different projects. The Cincinnati Kid that released in the year 1965 happened to be the breakthrough film of Norman Jewison. It is a drama. Steve McQueen acted in this film. This particular film revolves round the theme of gambling.

“The Russians Are Coming” is the first movie produced by Norman Jewison. This particular film also got nominated for four Academy Awards. Apart from this, it also received the award of the Best Picture. “In the Heat of the Night” that released in 1967 is a crime drama. Sidney Poitier acted in this film. It received five Academy Awards.
