David Cronenberg's Background
On March 15 1943, David Cronenberg was born in Toronto, Canada. He attended the North Toronto Collegiate School and later graduated from the University of Toronto in Literature. His was inspired for filmmaking from his friend David Secter. The latter had directed a film in 1965 titled - “Winter Kept Us Warm”. This was a local project and dealt with people and places that Cronenberg knew. This inspired him to direct his first film in 1966.
Career
In 1966, David Cronenberg directed his first project - “Transfer”. In this film, he portrayed two men talking across a table and the duel that follows. In his next venture “From the Drain” in 1967, he showed how a man was strangled to death by a plant that came out of a drain. These films proved that he was coming from a place that most other directors at Hollywood had not treaded. Stereo and Crimes of the Future were two short projects after, which he set up as a partnership with Ivan Reitman.
