Bela Tarr is a Hungarian auteur, who is known because of his creative excellence and offbeat films. The initial works of this Hollywood filmmaker depicts social issues rampant in society. The morbid world of individuals fighting to survive is the main theme that dominates his films. Biography
Born in Pecs, Hungary in the year 1955, Bela Tarr is a director and a screenwriter. His interest in films grew while working at the National House for Culture and Recreation. He made documentaries that reflected the lives of the poor in urban Hungary. At the age of 22, he made his first film – Csaladi tuzfeszek (Family Nest). This film was produced by the Bela Balazs Studios. After making this movie, Tarr underwent formal training at the Hungarian School of Theatrical and Cinematic Arts.
Bela Tarr made two more movies of the same genre as his first film that were titled – Szabadgyalog (The Outsider) and the Panelkapcsolat (The Prefab People). With the progress of time and experience, Tarr evolved as a director and a cinematographer.

Hotel Magnezit is the earliest venture of this veteran Hollywood director in 1978. Csaladi tuzfeszek happened a year after in 1979. The latter film explored the troubles of a young couple. The lack of harmony as the couple attempt to live with the boy's parents is the main storyline of the film.
