The Hollywood Palladium is basically a concert hall, which was founded on 23rd September, 1940. Presently, the Palladium Investors Ltd. is the owner of this venue in Hollywood. On its inauguration day a concert by the Tommy Dorsey and Frank Sinatra was staged here.

This famous concert hall was constructed by Maurice M. Cohen, a well known film producer. The site on which this hall is housed had Paramount Pictures. After its inaugural function Hollywood Palladium has housed several important events such as, Emmy Awards, Grateful Dead, The Rolling Stones, Grammy Awards and many more.

When the World War II was on, this Hollywood Palladium was used to radio broadcast song requests of the servicemen. As time passed by, the Palladium started to display political events, rock concerts, charity balls and auto shows. It was in the year 1985 that the authority of Hollywood Palladium shifted to the hands of Palladium Investors Ltd.
The entire 1980s and 1990s saw heavy metal and rap concerts in Hollywood Palladium. At present, this venue is used to house celebrity parties, namely Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan. It has been decided to give Hollywood Palladium a fresh look; hence, there have been plans to renovate this concert hall. After the entire work is over, it would be re-opened to public in 2008’s September. |

Architecture of Hollywood Palladium
This famous venue of Hollywood has been built in an Art Deco style, standing apart from the other surrounding structures. Gordon Kaufmann was the designer of this excellent structure. Hollywood Palladium comprises a total area of 11,200 square foot oval shaped dance floor, along with space for almost 4,000 people. In its special VIP section and balcony there are numerous seating arrangements.
Seating arrangements in the other parts of this concert hall depended on the specific event. Depending on the nature of the celebration that oval floor could be customized to the need of seating arrangement.
Since the day Hollywood Palladium was inaugurated it has been used for shooting purpose as well. Several plots of movies like The Blues Brothers, Galaxy Quest, Almost Famous and so forth, have been shot at this venue.
