El Capitan Theatre

The El Capitan Theatre is a completely renovated movie palace, which is located at 6838 Hollywood Boulevard in Hollywood, Los Angeles. Walt Disney Company is the owner and operator of the El Capitan Theatre.

History of the El Capitan Theatre –
With its opening in 1926 the El Capitan Theatre reflected elegant Spanish exterior of the colonial era. Its designer was Stiles O. Clements, an employee of Morgan, Walls and Clements – an architectural firm. The stylish East Indian interior was created by G. Albert Lansburgh, a theatre designer. For almost ten years the El Capitan Theatre hosted live plays with more than 120 productions till 1936. It started showing movies after this time period and Citizen Kane was premiered internationally in 1941.

El Capitan Theatre was then closed down for a year and was renovated in the modern architectural style. It was opened once again as the famous Hollywood Paramount Theater. It continued to be the main theater for Paramount Pictures along the west coast till it was compelled to part from its holdings. The case of the US versus Paramount Pictures led to this outcome. For the next few years, the United Paramount Theater ran the Hollywood Paramount Theater and after that it was operated by a number of other businesses. The Pacific Theaters acquired it during the 1980s.
Present-day scenario of El Capitan Theatre –
